The "F.T.A." was established 1959 and at that time was known as The Association of Former New Jersey State Troopers, Inc. The purpose of this organization then and now is to assist Former Troopers and to offer the combined knowledge and experience of its members to benefit the Division. The fraternal gestures of aid and consolidation during times of need are standard, but underlying all is the desire to continue that of "Once a Trooper, always a Trooper." A plaque honoring the first 11 Former Troopers who began this organization today hangs proudly on the walls of the New Jersey State Police Museum and Learning Center at Division Headquarters.
